Rare first edition edition Sibbern’s landmark work in which embraced the philosophical discipline of psychology, separating it from earlier more speculative traditions and establishing a more empirically oriented study of the soul. Here he developed a psychology of emotional life based on observation and examples drawn from both reality and poetry. Frederik Christian Sibbern (1785–1872) was a prominent Danish philosopher, poet, and academic associated with the Danish Golden Age. He played a key role in the intellectual and cultural life of Denmark during the 19th century.
