It offers detailed explanations of ancient fables and metamorphoses, arguing that the rituals, mysteries, sacrifices and other ceremonies of paganism are only imperfect imitations of sacred history.
The book also includes a French translation of Dares Phrygius' account of the destruction of Troy, based on the Latin translation by Cornelius Nepos.
